KPIT's phased acquisition of Israeli firm Cymotive embeds end-to-end cybersecurity into vehicle platforms from design through production
22 Jun 2026

Automotive software specialist KPIT is buying Israeli vehicle cybersecurity firm Cymotive in a deal worth up to $120 million, staking its next chapter on making security a native feature of connected cars rather than an afterthought bolted on at the end.
The acquisition unfolds in phases. An initial $10 million investment was set to close by mid-June 2026, with the remaining value tied to performance milestones. Cymotive brings lifecycle-wide expertise: secure architecture design, real-time intrusion detection, and coverage from early development through production and operations.
Timing matters here. Regulations like UN R155 have raised the compliance floor for every new vehicle program, and automakers are under real pressure to certify security at scale. Building that capability from scratch takes time most suppliers don't have. Acquiring proven tooling and specialized talent compresses that timeline considerably.
Cymotive's intrusion detection work also fills a visible gap in KPIT's existing software platform portfolio. Together, they can offer automakers coverage from prototype to road-ready product, reducing both vulnerability windows and development cycles in ways that matter commercially. Integrated stacks are simply more attractive than pieced-together solutions when procurement teams are under regulatory scrutiny.
KPIT said in a BSE filing that the deal aligns with its long-term strategy of embedding cybersecurity from the design phase forward, a commitment that reflects how sharply security requirements have shifted across the industry. That's not a small claim. If the combined entity delivers on it, the benchmark for what automakers expect from technology partners could move with them, changing how security features are scoped and priced across the sector for years ahead.
