Sasken and VicOne Team Up to Secure the Connected Car

The race to secure connected vehicles is picking up speed, and a new alliance is sharpening the focus. On Sept. 18, 2025, Sasken and VicOne announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening cybersecurity across modern cars, electric vehicles, and charging infrastructure.

The timing is no accident. Today’s vehicles are rolling networks, constantly exchanging data with the cloud, drivers, and roadside systems. That convenience comes with risk. A single weakness can ripple across fleets and supply chains, turning a software flaw into a safety issue.

Sasken brings deep experience in automotive engineering and embedded systems. VicOne adds a security lineup that includes xCarbon, vSOC, and EVSE Security. Together, they are betting on a model built around continuous monitoring and fast response, rather than the old approach of one time checks. The goal is to spot threats as they emerge and adapt defenses as software evolves.

Industry analysts say this shift has been a long time coming. Attackers are becoming more creative, while vehicles are adding features at a rapid clip. Static defenses struggle to keep up. By contrast, always on security treats cybersecurity as a living system that grows with the code.

The partnership also reflects a wider change in how automakers think about risk. Cybersecurity is no longer a box to tick near the end of development. It is becoming a design principle, much like crash safety or emissions control. Fleet operators, in particular, are pressing for clearer insight into digital threats that could disrupt operations or compromise data.

Still, challenges remain. Integrating robust security across global supply chains is complex, especially when standards vary by region. Some manufacturers remain cautious about relying on third party platforms for core protection.

Even so, the direction is clear. As regulations tighten and the cost of breaches becomes harder to ignore, collaboration is gaining appeal. The Sasken and VicOne alliance signals a turning point, suggesting that in the era of connected mobility, defense is no longer optional. It is part of the drive itself.
